What a great day to ride. The sun is shinning and it is in the 70s with a nice breeze. That makes it so hard to go to work. I worked a few hours from home this morning so I could enjoy the warm ride in. Then I lost a screw from my glasses on the way to work, so I had to ride to get that fixed. So, hard to come back to my desk. It is probably a good thing we don't have windows in my office.
Supposed to snow tomorrow and be quite cold. I think I said that already.
Anyway, I am not sure if we'll get out for a ride this weekend either. We'll have to see what the weather does and decide if we'll have the garage sale too. I'm not sure we have gone through enough of our stuff to have it yet. I'll have to ask hubby about that. I want to go through my closet and get rid of some clothes. But, I can always take those to Goodwill too. Well, now that I really think about it, maybe we have gone through just about everything. Hmmm. That would be good. Maybe I can sell some of my moto gear that I'm not using anymore. I wore my Joe Rocket jacket the other day and it didn't feel as comfortable as the 3/4 jackets that I've been wearing. That will make it easier to part with.

Oil Change
Hubby changed my oil yesterday. Thanks love!
It had been a while, and I can't even remember how long, but it was long over due. My fault really for letting it go so long. But, now it is done. And I wrote it in my Clymers manual so I can keep track better. In theory, when I start riding to work full time, I'll need to change it every 2 weeks. That seems like a lot. But, I guess that could also mean I'll become quite adept at changing it myself.
I also need to remember to spray my chain when I get home.
It is supposed to snow on Thursday.
Sigh.

Fortune Cookie
My fortune said,"You are a traveler at heart. There will be many journeys."
The weather is slowly warming up. There is still snow in the forecast for the metro area although they are calling it trace amounts. It won't stick or keep for very long. That's a good thing. But, it still makes for a cold morning ride some times.
We've been packing in anticipation of moving into our first home we'll own. So, I've been quite tired since I'm in such wonderful shape (not). This morning I decided to drive to work. I was debating my options - is 35 degrees too cold for my new jacket? - should I wait an hour and then go? - stuff like that. Then it dawned on me that I was trying to convince myself to ride and that isn't a good thing. The moto didn't have my full attention which is not the best way to ride.
I drove yesterday too because I was running late and thought I'd have boxes to bring home from work. The day before, during my ride, I felt a bit off. My stops were not so graceful, my mind was wandering, and it was just not my best day I guess. Nothing too terrible but I think I was just tired. So, maybe I don't have my riding muscles back yet.
Maybe I should sign up for the Experienced Rider Course to get the bugs out.
Maybe I just need the weekend to rest. A really warm day would be nice too.
I'm also debating about keeping my miles per gallon updated on the blog. I did well last year but so far this season I haven't done it. Weird. I was thinking about buying one of the moto maintenance log books from Aerostich to carry on the bike. Then I can keep track of stuff there and later transfer it to the blog. Or just a summary to the blog. That way I don't have to log on every other day when I get gas.
Maybe things will settle down again after the move too. And I'll have my routine back.
Happy Friday! TGIF!

Airglide Hi-Viz Yellow
Just wanted to post a photo of my new to me jacket and do a quick review. I have worn it only once and I love it! There is a pretty substantial inner jacket liner that can be worn alone and is water proof. (I haven't tested that part out yet.) I wore it on a morning when the temps were in the low 40s with the liner and it was quite comfy.
The jacket can be adjusted in the arms and hips and waist. That is a nice feature when you remove the liner which, I did on the ride home when temps were in the upper 70s. Wow! So, comfy to have the mesh jacket.
The only thing I have to get used to is the collar. It isn't bad, just different. And the back padding is pretty high so when I'm sitting on the bike I can't tip my head back. Not something I'll probably need to do on the bike anyway really. I wonder if it is designed that way for more crash protection?
It also seemed that people could see me better. I could actually see them look at me, much the same as they do when I have my highway lights on. Without the hi-viz or extra lights, they seemed to look past me as they rolled through the intersection and suddenly stop. With the extra conspicuity, they actually stop first.
Anyway, so far, two thumbs up for this jacket!

Nice morning!
The bike was slow to warm up this morning but once I got going it was fine. I don't know what it is, maybe a little more riding experience on my part, but the bike sure does want to go fast. It sounds great, feels smooth and shifts well. I do feel more comfortable on it too although, if I think about it enough, I can convince myself that the bike is a bit small for me. :-) It isn't really, but I do feel like I could stretch out a bit more from time to time. We'll see how I feel at the end of the season.
Headed out my usual route to work. Nothing special really, not even very many bikes out this Monday morning. Stopped at the light at McCaslin and hwy128 a rider on a BMW pulled up next to me and said very cheerfully, "Nice morning!" And he was right. It really was a nice morning. My hands weren't cold, there was a light breeze, the sun was at my back. It was all good. I told him to go ahead of me on the ride. I wasn't in a hurry and there may have been some curves he was looking forward to.
Shiny side up! Ride safe everyone and happy spring weather!

Back in the saddle again
Well, last week was a nice time to ride. This week, not so much. Warm temps last week enabled me to ride 3 of the 4 days I had to work. (I was off on Friday for spring break.) Then...the snow came again. Sigh. Today I am home sick and it is the nicest day of the week (of course).
I bought a new (to me) jacket. I bought it on Craig's List and it is almost new although it reeks of cigarette smoke. I've been trying to wash it, spray it with FeBreeze, hang it outside, to get rid of the smell. I think I just need to wear it on a nice long ride to get the cigarette smell out and the smell of the open road in. :-) The jacket is an Olympia Airglide and it is hi-viz neon yellow! I'd been wanting one like this! It was a great deal too. I can't wait for summer so I can really try it out. It does have a waterproof quilted liner so I can probably wear it the next time I ride. But, we'll see. The jacket is the same model as my pants too. I like having things that match. The pants are silver but that's ok.
